WORDS OFTEN CONFUSED (Part-2)

1. Imperial (साम्राज्यवादी)- England had an imperial design.
    Imperious (commanding)- He spoke in an imperious tone.
2. Importune (proper)- It will be disclosed on an importune moment.
    Importunate (urgent)- This letter is very importunate.
3. Impetuous (बिना सोचे समझे)- His actions are impetuous.
    Impetus- (driving force)- Money is an impetus to a number of people.
4. Interminable- (too long)- This lesson is interminable.
    Intermittent- (with some intervals)- He suffers from intermittent fever.
5. Ingenious- (showing skill at inventing things) - His ingenious statement surprised all.
    Ingenuous (frank)- Everybody knows that he is an ingenuous person.
6. Inappropriate (अनुपयुक्त)- This is an inappropriate word here.
    Misappropriate (गलत काम में लगाना)- He misappropriated the public money.
7. Jealous (ईर्ष्यालु)- He is jealous of my prosperity.
    Zealous (उत्साही)- He is a very zealous worker.
8. Judicial (कानून सम्बन्धी)- He is a judicial magistrate.
    Judicious (होशियार)- Ketki is very judicious girl.
9. Junction (जंक्शन)- I shall see you at the Jaipur Junction.
    Juncture (अवसर)- I must help you at this juncture.
10. Jest (joke)- He might have said this in jest.
      Just (न्यायी)- He was a just ruler.
      Just (अभी)- He has left the place just now.
11. Jungle (forest) - He lives in a jungle.
      Jangle (give out a harsh sound)- It jangled occasionally.
      Jingle (make ringing sound)- They were jingling when I was asleep.
12. Kitchen (रसोईघर)- My mother is in the kitchen.
      Kitten  (बिल्ली का बच्चा)- My kitten likes to drink milk.
13. Knot (गाँठ)- Untie this knot.
      Not (नहीं)- He is not an intelligent boy.
14. Kneel (घुटने के बल झुकना)- The yoga teacher asked him to kneel.
      Knell (मृत्यु की घंटी बजना)- The death knell is clearly heard.
15. Label (कागज़ आदि का टुकड़ा)- Price label may be seen before buying an article.
      Level (surface)- This place is 4000 metres from the sea-level.
16. Luxuriant (बहुत बढ़ने वाला)- This plant has a luxuriant growth.
      Luxurious (ऐशोआराम से भरा हुआ)- His life is luxurious.
17. Later (बाद में)- He later informed me that he won't attend the meeting.
      Latter (पिछला)- You gave me a pen and a book. The latter is more expensive.
18. Loose (ढीला-ढाला)- Your coat is very loose.
      Lose (खोना)- Where did you lose your pen?
19. Lesson (पाठ)- He learnt his lesson well.
      Lessen (कम करना)- This medicine will lessen your pain.
      Listen (ध्यान से सुनना)- Listen to your teacher when he teaches in the class.
20. Lion  (सिंह)- I saw a lion in the zoo.
      Loin (कमर)- Gandhiji always wore a loin cloth.
