Omission of Articles

'The Article is omitted before-
1. Proper Nouns; as 
(a) Names of towns-Delhi, Madras, Bombay, Agra,  Jaipur.
(b) Names of countries- India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, China.
(c) Names of persons-Ashok, Akber, Nehru, Gandhi, Churchil.
(d) Names of mountain peaks- Mount Abu, Mount Everest.
(e) Names of streets- Mahatma Gandhi Road, \
(f) Names of The days of the week- Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
(g) Names of the months of the year- January, February, March, April, May, June,.
Note- When we use the before Proper Nouns, They become Common Nouns; as
         Kalidas is the Shakespeare of India.
2. Plural Noun से पहले| जैसे-
     Birds fly.
     Cows give milk.
Note- किन्तु यदि plural noun किसी विशेष या निश्चित वस्तु का बोध कराएं तो the का प्रयोग होता है| जैसे -
         1. The birds of Africa are large in size.
         2. The cows of Haryana give much milk.
 3.Abstract Noun से पहले, जैसे-
          Honesty is the best policy.
          Wisdom comes with age.
4. Material Noun से पहले, जैसे-
          Gold is precious.
          Water is life
(Gold, silver, iron, glass, wood, stone, paper, wine, coffee, tea,etc. Material Noun कहलाते हैं|)
5.Collective Noun से पहले कोई Article का प्रयोग नहीं किया जाता है| जैसे-
    1. Army is on the move.
6. भाषाओं के नाम से पहले कोई Article नहीं लगता| जैसे-
      I know English.
      She knows French.
7. बीमारियों, पर्वों और ऋतुओं से पहले Article नहीं लगता| जैसे-
       1. Cholera has broken out.
       2. He is coming on Christmas.
       3. Spring is pleasant.
8.भोजन व खेल-कूद के नामों के पहले भी Article नहीं आता| जैसे-
     1. Harish plays football.
     2. He plays cricket.
     3. I take breakfast quite early.
9. School, college, church, chapel, court, hospital, market, prison. के पहले कोई Article  का प्रयोग नहीं करते हैं, यदि इनका प्रयोग उनके मुख्य कार्य के लिए किया गया हो| जैसे- school, college  का प्रयोग पढने के लिए,  church  का प्रार्थना  के लिए, market  का खरीददारी के लिए| जैसे -
    I am going to college.
    I am going to church.
लेकिन यदि इनका प्रयोग केवल स्थान या भवन के अर्थ में किया जाए तो उपयुक्त Article लगाते हैं| जैसे-
    The market is closed.
    The school is next to mall.
10. Distributive Adjective+Noun  के साथ Article नहीं आता|
11.Possessive Adjective+Noun  पहले Article नहीं आता है|
12. No/Not any + Noun  के साथ Article नहीं लगाते| जैसे-
      1.There is no boy in the class.
13. Elect/appoint/make/crown के बाद आने वाले Noun (complement)  के पहले कोई  Article  नहीं आता|
     1.He was elected Speaker of the Assembly.
     2. They made him chairman.
14.Kind of/sort of के बाद आने वाले Noun  के पहले कोई Article नहीं लगता| जैसे-
     1. What kind of chair do you want to buy?
     2. I cannot deal with this sort of man.
Note-  किन्तु यदि kind of/sort of  से किसी विशेष गुण या योग्यता का बोध हो तो उसके बाद आने वाले Noun  के पहले Article  का प्रयोग होता है| जैसे-
     1. What kind of a musician is he?
     2. What sort of a problem would you discuss?
15.जोड़े के साथ आने वाले Nouns  के पहले Article  का प्रयोग नहीं होता है| जैसे-
They are wife and husband.
अन्य रूप- Father and mother, brother and sister, father and son, from door to door, from house to house, face to face, hand to hand, from man to man, from village to village, etc.

अंग्रेजी व्यंजनों के उच्चारण

अंग्रेजी भाषा में 21 व्यंजन हैं- B  C D F G H J K L M N P Q R S T V W X Y   Z ब  स ड फ ग ह ज क ल म न प क र स ट व व क्स य ज़ सामान्यतः इन वर्णों का उच्चारण वैसा ही होता है जैसा कि इनके नीचे दिए गए हिन्दी वर्णों का होता है| लेकिन जब हम किसी अंग्रेज को बात करते हुए सुनते हैं या फिर किसी टीवी चैनल पर कोई समाचार सुनते हैं तब हमें लगता है कि जो हम बोलते है वे  उससे अलग उच्चारण कर रहे हैं| अक्षरों का क्रम बदल जाने से उच्चारण में भेद  हिन्दी में जैसा बोला जाता है वैसा ही लिखा जाता है लेकिन अंग्रेजी में इससे विपरीत स्थिति है 'C' का उच्चारण - C के दो उच्चारण हैं-स और क  1. C  के बाद E,I,Y आये तो C  का उच्चारण 'स' होगा| जैसे- Receive,Cinema, Icy, Force, Certificate, Niece, Cyclone... 2.C के बाद A, O, U, K, T आदि कोई वर्ण हो तो प्रायः C का उच्चारण 'क' होता है| जैसे-  Cot, Cat, Cap, Cow, Cattle, Cruel, Custom, Candidate......... 3. कभी-कभी C के बाद IA या EA हों तो 'श' की ध्वनि देते हैं| जैसे  Social, Ocean... Degrees of Adjectives

Study the following sentences- 1. Meena is a clever girl. 2. Pinky is cleverer than Meena. 3. Shreya is the cleverest of the three. We see in the above sentences that Adjectives change in forms (clever, cleverer, cleverest) to show comparison. They are called the three Degrees of Comparison . Adjectives की तीन Degree होती हैं- 1.Positive Degree 2. Comparative Degree 3. Superlative Degree Positive Degree में किसी noun की विशेषता बताई जाती हयाई, उस विशेषता की Degree नहीं होती| जैसे- Vishal is a brave boy. Comparative Degree   में उस विशेषता की दूसरी degree बताई जाती है, और इसमें किन्हीं भी दो वस्तुओं के उसी गुण का तुलनात्मक भाव निहित रहता है| जैसे- Vishal is braver than Rohit.
